The Sonographer is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures to assist physicians in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of medical conditions. This role involves providing accurate and high-quality images of internal body structures, ensuring patient comfort and safety, and maintaining clear and precise documentation of ultrasound results. The Sonographer collaborates with the medical team to support optimal patient care and clinical decision-making. 


Duties and Responsibilities  

  1. Clinical Service and Quality  
  • Perform Diagnostic Ultrasounds: Conduct a variety of ultrasound examinations to produce optimal diagnostic images. 
  • Provide accurate ultrasound reports and ensure all records are properly documented. 
  • Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of ultrasound equipment and accessories which include regular cleaning and upkeep of equipment, liaising with designated contractors for period servicing. 
  • Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of examination/ procedure room. 
  • Prepare equipment and supplies required for any sonography procedures. 
  • Identify and promptly flag up any urgent or abnormal findings during sonographic examinations. Communicate these findings immediately to the supervising physician or relevant healthcare professional to ensure timely and appropriate follow-up and action. 
  1. People  
  •   Work closely with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care and the timely delivery of diagnostic results. 
  • Provide excellent patient care by addressing any concerns, offering reassurance during procedures, and ensuring a positive experience throughout the process. 
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of junior staff or students, ensuring they adhere to best practices in ultrasound imaging and patient care. 
  • Communicate clearly with patients about the procedure, potential risks, and post-exam instructions. Effectively communicate with colleagues to discuss patient findings and treatment plans. 
  1. Others   
  • Regularly check, clean, and maintain ultrasound equipment to ensure it is functioning properly and report any malfunctions promptly. 
  • Follow all safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.   
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities, including workshops and seminars, to stay current on new ultrasound techniques, technologies, and best practices. 
  • Ensure compliance with all hospital or clinic policies, healthcare regulations, and ethical standards related to patient confidentiality, and quality assurance. 

Requirements:
  • A recognized diploma or degree in Ultrasound or equivalent.  
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience in medical imaging, with at least 2 years of experience in performing ultrasound examinations.   
  • Good communication, good team player, and service-oriented with good listening skills. 
  • Working hours Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, Saturday 8am to 12pm
